Christmas Family Picture

Posing in our Sunday best in our new house.

Just before this picture was taken, Caroline was excited to note that the camera light was blinking and had to point it out to us.

The Cutest Picture EVER!

This is what Anna does when she doesn't want to take a nap. She finally fell asleep just like this.

Gma Carol's House

Anna hoarding all of Grandma Carol's prescription drugs. I certainly hope this interest doesn't affect her career choice...unless she follows in James's footsteps and becomes a pharmacist.

Nate and his mom Carol.

Lazy Bones

These girls have a real talent for sitting on Grandma's couch

and watching Nick Jr.

Halloween

Caroline is a Spanish dancer and Anna is a China girl.

We decided our costumes are as authentic as they come. I was given this dress when I lived in Spain.

Nate got this outfit in Hong Kong a few years ago (originally intended for Caroline).

Show 'n' Tell

Caroline was assigned Show 'n' Tell for preschool. Grandma suggested that she could pick an apple for each of her friends. She climbed the ladder by herself and picked six apples. We printed off copies of the pictures to show her friends while they enjoyed their yummy fruit.

Anna

Anna found Elizabeth's Baby D and LOVED her. Grandma let her take Baby D home with us and Caroline was really jealous.

Anna was helping Caroline pick apples, then lost interest and tromped off into Grandpa's garden. You can see the happy cows in the pasture beyond her.

Scott's Cool New Shirt

Scott got this cool new t-shirt and doesn't have a blog on which to display it, so I offered to do the dirty work for him. I think it's quite a nice-looking shirt. Go Badgers!!

Giddyup, Horsie!!

Anna's new favorite thing to do is hide whenever she hears us coming. I might be worried that I would really never find her, except that when she goes to hide she yells, "hide." I heard her coming into the living room today and hid under the blanket. Anna found me pretty quickly and the kids decided that I was a horse. I almost ran into the piano giving them a ride.

Ballerina Superstars?

I really don't know what else to call these crazy kids.

Crazy Kid

So yesterday Caroline and Anna were watching "Beauty and the Beast." It got to the part where Gaston throws Belle's book in the mud. Caroline started laughing and said, "That book is all muddy!!" I said, "He threw the book in the mud? That wasn't very nice--we don't do that to books." Caroline laughed again and said, "No, we do that to pigs!!"

Puddles!!

It rained today and the girls LOVED playing in the puddles. Anna was really sad when we had to come inside. I told her that next year when it rains she can play in the puddles again.

I took a picture of Anna throwing a fit because she had to go to the little puddle when the cars came down the street.

Caroline needed me to take a picture of her being sad, too. She won't be outdone by her little sister.

Miss Photogenic

I took a picture of Caroline, so she thought she needed to take a picture of me. I guess she thinks she's some sort of budding photographer. We had to delete about twenty-five pictures that she took of our room. It's like she was investigating a crime scene or something.

Computer Geek

I thought I'd take a picture of Caroline doing her favorite thing...playing computer. I've had to limit her to only playing while Anna's napping, so she asks me all through the day, "Is Anna asleep?" Once she even locked Anna in her room first thing in the morning, then came to me and said, "Mom, Anna's asleep, can I play computer?"

Sunday Best

Caroline and Anna looked really cute when they got ready for church last week. Caroline was in the primary program and even had a line, "I am thankful for my friends in my life."

Preschool Assignment

Caroline was supposed to make a poster about her favorite things for preschool. She told us that her favorite color is pink (big surprise), her favorite animal is a cow, her favorite instrument is a flute (we're going to have to work on that one), her favorite movie is Bambi (that changes every other day), and her favorite food is pizza (it really isn't, but that's what she said. I don't even know if she likes pizza). And of course we used a princess theme, including a picture of her with her princess castle in her princess dress. I think preschool is going to be more homework for me than for her...

Maple Canyon

The girls loved hiking up Maple Canyon today. One funny comment: Caroline saw a bald guy rockclimbing and she said, "Look, Daddy, his hair matches yours!"

Family Home Evening Lesson

Caroline: We're princes!!
Mom: No, it's the armor of God.
Caroline: Oh, the farmer of God.

Drastic Color Changes

I realize that it's been a really long time since my last post. We've actually had a couple of adventures that aren't documented here. Nate went to California and saw the Blue Devils win DCI finals. That's his old drum corps, so he was pretty excited about that. We also went to Palisades as a family and played at the "beach." It was raining, but the kids still loved it. The water was downright warm. Anna helped me build a sandcastle. She spent the rest of the time protecting it from Caroline. Last week we went camping up Fairview Canyon with Miss Kandis and Grandma Carol. The kids had fun, but we were all really tired when we finally made it home.

Yeah, I colored my hair brown. It is a little darker than I anticipated, but I'm slowly getting used to it.

I also painted our front door red, which looks really good. I'll have to take another picture with the whole house, but this morning when I took the picture the light wasn't very good for it.

Happy Birthday to Anna

Anna got loads of presents. We tried not to spoil her, but we didn't do a very good job.

Anna got this cute bear puzzle from Maggie. She wants to play with it all the time, but she and Caroline fight over it, so I have to save it for special occasions.

Her favorite was a Dora DVD from Grandma. Oh, Grandma knows her soooo well.

Benny and Me

Two of the greatest jazz pianists in the world. Okay, one of the greatest jazz pianists in the world, but Benny Green is there, too.

Picnic

We had a picnic in the mountains. The girls loved it.

Happy Birthday to Caroline

Caroline told us hundreds of times that she wanted "chocolate cake with frosting and a cherry" for her birthday. It turns out that she doesn't even like cherries. She spit hers out. But she was content.

Shayla and Taya were standing by, just in case Caroline needed help blowing out candles.

Lovin' Lagoon

Caroline loved riding the giraffe.

Anna liked her horse at first...

Then she kind of fell asleep riding it. She opened her eyes again just as Nate was coming to take her picture.

Caroline took Nate on the Ladybug ride. She was happy at first, but it didn't take long before she was pretty scared.

You can't really see the look on her face, but it's pure terror.

Anna was having a hard day--she didn't get a nap, then she rubbed the stamp ink all over her face and into her eyes.
